Top 5 Tips to manage your anxiety

Hi Everyone, it’s Vanessa here, co-founder of Be/Here. Today, I want to share my top 5 tips that I find invaluable when my anxiety levels hit a 10.

1.Understand why you are feeling anxious and why: The first step is to take a moment to pause and reflect on what’s triggering your anxiety. Is it something immediate or a lingering concern? Understanding the root cause can help demystify those overwhelming feelings.

2.Challenge your thoughts: Often, our minds spiral into “what if” scenarios that aren’t grounded in reality. Take a moment to examine these thoughts—are they hypothetical worries or based on actual problems? By recognising the difference, we can begin to alleviate some of the pressure we place on ourselves.

3.Evaluate with a friend: When facing worries that seem overwhelming, it can be incredibly helpful to reach out to someone you trust. They can help, you work out if your anxiety is about “what if” thoughts, for example thoughts that are about things that have not happened or could happen or if they are about a problem that you can find a solution . Your person may offer valuable insights or solutions that you hadn’t considered, helping to lighten the emotional load.

4.Practice Mindfullness: In addition to seeking support from others, practising mindfulness can be a powerful tool in managing anxious thoughts. Engaging in activities that bring you joy—be it taking a leisurely walk in nature, immersing yourself in a favourite playlist, or experimenting with new recipes—can serve as a delightful distraction from the “what if” scenarios that often plague our minds. These moments of presence allow us to reconnect with ourselves and find peace amidst the chaos.

5.You are in control: Finally, it's essential to remind yourself of the power you hold over your thoughts. You are not merely at the mercy of your worries; instead, you have the ability to choose how you respond to them. By acknowledging this control and actively steering your focus towards positive actions and thoughts, you'll find greater peace amidst life's uncertainties.

Remember, it's perfectly okay to feel anxious; you're not alone in this journey. Let’s navigate these feelings together with compassion and understanding.

Love and Light
